Thanks for the information. So that we can confirm if this is a bug in libinput or the kernel, please try this:
1. sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 2. Log out 3. Log in to "Ubuntu on Xorg". 4. Verify the driver has changed by running "synclient" and you should see lots of information.
