I'm seeing this regularly as well. Often I am doing something with video or audio. This last time, I launched an mp3 in VLC, and the screen immediately froze. The audio kept playing. About 15 minutes later, when the mp3 ended, the screen immediately unfroze and everything seemed fine.

Often, I can't wait to see if it will come back, and sometimes it never does, so I have to reboot.
