I have the same, identical bug with the IdeaPad 320-15ABR (same of Ben i think, according with him hardware specs). Ubuntu 17.10 and Linux 4.13.0-16-generic
I think the package provided isn't the right one. As I just wrote the bug is identical, but i the package xserver-xorg-input-synaptic isn't installed on my system. So the issue should be find somewhere else. I just tried installing the kernel 4.14 RC6, but the bug is still here.
