As it turns out, xdiagnose was still Depending on Python 2. I completed the port by switching to --buildsystem=pybuild and dropping all Python 2-isms. I have a diff, attached here, that completes the port to Python 3 (hence why I re-opened this bug). Before I upload it though, perhaps Didier could give it a sanity check?
