Workaround found on https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/first "10 things to do first in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS" I added it to /etc/profile (sudo vi /etc/profile) [ -x /usr/bin/numlockx ] && ( sleep 20 ; /usr/bin/numlockx on ) & Works fine for me.
