I upgraded my bios, here is the output: vid@G550:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for vid: G550JK.205 09/26/2014
It didn't solve the problem, so I guess this isnt due to outdated BIOS? What solves my problem is adding 'acpi_osi=' to '/etc/default/grub' as such: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=" Can someone please explain what exactly is causing the problem and how adding 'acpi_osi=' solvse it.
