This happens to me too on a 2015 Lenovo X1 Carbon, up-to-date vivid. When it happens (usually after resuming from a suspend, but sometimes during normal usage) the trackpoint, trackpad and touchscreen all still work and UI elements highlight when the cursor is over them, but the cursor itself is invisible.
Sometimes suspending and resuming fixes the issue but usually I have to reboot or restart lightdm.
