I re-tried my test where I installed Lubuntu 14.04.1, then applied updates.
This time, I un-checked the "X.org X server Intel i8xx ..." update (so it wouldn't be installed), and installed updates. After installing updates, it shows that the 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1 version is the version installed. On reboot, it worked normally (no problem). It appears that using Synaptic Package Manager to force the old version (or freeze the version), as I did in my prior test, did not have the expected effect (or had no effect). I am able to use my Lubuntu 14.04.1 system on that machine by each time holding back the "X.org X server Intel i8xx ..." update (for the xserver-xorg-video-intel package). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389904 Title: With the recent update to xserver-xorg-video-intel, system boots to a black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1389904/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
