Same problem here with an Acer Aspire one. Which has an Atheros AR242x (rev 01). I've tried using both NFS and Samba to mount remote file systems. And, used both the file manager and cp to transfer files. No mater what, I get a hard lock after transferring a couple of gigabytes. However, using the exact same set up over the wired network works perfectly. I'm running 9.04 with backports installed. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1251348 for another report.
