Public bug reported: This is easy to reproduce: Burn a kubuntu 14.10 plasma 5 ISO, downloaded from here:
http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kubuntu-14.10 Boot from it. X will not start, and the machine falls to a command prompt. Typing startx starts everything and it's possible to proceed. I should note that that my machine has an nvidia 560M graphics card in it, and is running the nouveau driver on the ISO.
