I would add here that it's hard to test the issue in other desktop environments since, at least for me, Unity was the only that worked with the DisplayLink device I have (AOC e1649Fwu). I'm currently using a slightly tweaked version of this script[1] to enable the display, and while it works on Unity (but gets slow), it crashes completely on MATE, my preferred desktop environment. I couldn't test in other ones yet, and neither have reported it to MATE devs yet - as I have no idea on how to start the report.
Additionally, in my notebook with Intel Graphics 4000 it was a little bit slower but very usable, besides the mouse blinking like crazy, and some Compiz plugins failing (like Enhanced Desktop Zoom, that does not zooms but the cursor disappears while in supposedly higher zoom levels). However, in my work environment, with an unknown onboard videocard, it got so slow I had to stop using the second screen. I'll follow the steps suggested to the others and report two bugs from both computers. Hope it helps this get fixed :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1213338 Title: Displaylink slow graphic performance on Ubuntu 13 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1213338/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
