Public bug reported: I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 with AMD/Intel hybrid graphics. OS - Ubuntu 14.04.1 (Linux kernel 3.13.0)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Thames [Radeon HD 7500M/7600M Series] (rev ff) sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch 0:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0 1:DIS: :DynOff:0000:01:00.0 Fan runs constantly, and battery backup is maximum 2 hours or even less sometimes using the open-source drivers. I have posted a similar info for xserver-xorg-video-ati because I found a bug report #1304912. But recently I installed fglrx drivers to see if I get better results and changed the driver in use to Intel from the Catalyst-Control-Center. The observation I made was that the problem persisted even when only the intel drivers were in use. So there could be problem with xserver-xorg-video-intel as the discrete graphics card is shown to be dynamically off. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1361209 Title: Hybrid Graphics, overheating with fans running constantly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1361209/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
