** Description changed: On Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS on a Lenovo Thinkpad S540. Upon closing the lid or leaving the laptop unattended for a certain time (such that the screen dims and re-login is required), the system freezes. The mouse can still be moved, but clicks do nothing and keyboard is non responsive. It possible to recover by ALT+CTRL+F1 then ALT+CTRL+F7, at which point the login prompt is presented and active. My power settings are set to "Don't suspend" (battery and AC) and "Do nothing when the lid is closed" (battery and AC), so I expect nothing to happen when closing the lid. From the dimmed screen, I expect to be able to re-login with the system freezing. I've attached also the results from doing `Alt+SysRq+1` then `Alt+SysRq+t` at the tty , dumping into kern.log. The file is called "LidFreezeDump". - - >>apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel - xserver-xorg-video-intel: - Installed: (none) - Candidate: 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4.4 - Version table: - 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4.4 0 - 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages - 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 0 - 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-34.49~precise1-generic 3.8.13.12 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-34-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.6 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Wed Dec 25 20:29:24 2013 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: fglrx-experimental-13, 13.101, 3.8.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed fglrx-experimental-13, 13.101, 3.8.0-34-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a16] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:2216] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20130820.1) JockeyStatus: xorg:fglrx_experimental_13 - ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver (**experimental** beta) (Proprietary, Enabled, Not in use) MachineType: LENOVO 20B3CTO1WW MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-34-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=fb9aa3cf-eb94-4298-b778-ac8fa2bd1368 ro crashkernel=384M-2G:64M,2G-:128M quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-intel UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 11/28/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: GPET53WW (1.53 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20B3CTO1WW dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: 0B98405 Std dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrGPET53WW(1.53):bd11/28/2013:svnLENOVO:pn20B3CTO1WW:pvrThinkPadS5-S540:rvnLENOVO:rn20B3CTO1WW:rvr0B98405Std:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 20B3CTO1WW dmi.product.version: ThinkPad S5-S540 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu3 version.fglrx-installer: fglrx-installer N/A version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.43-0ubuntu0.0.3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri N/A version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx N/A version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core N/A version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau N/A
