Hi Christopher, I have since moved on to both different Ubuntu versions and different hardware (currently ubuntu 13.10 and Intel, with a discrete nvidia card running on nouveau and bumblebee). I am not experiencing graphical issues with this setup, but that's of no use to this topic I guess.
