Well, if I install the pae kernel with apt-get install, i expect it to install whatever it needs and rebuild whatever needs to be rebuilt to not break the system.
You are not supposed to have to figure out which other stuff you need to install and what you have to rebuild when you install a package: that's what package managers are for. If not in the pae kernel itself, this is a bug in the way it (or the NVidia driver or both) is packaged. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079848 Title: pae kernel corrupts nvidia driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1079848/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
