I seem to be seeing a very similar issue on 12.04LTS after taking the
latest update (everything was fine before that).  I was getting
graphical corruption, the apport-gpu-error-intel.py crash report, and
the machine would hang.

I think this may be the same issue as reported on the forum

I think that the update took my kernel to 3.2.0-39.  I tried reverting
to 3.2.0-38 and things are improved slightly in that I don't get a
complete hang, however I still get the crash reports.
