@Renaud: If you have a system responsive enough to interact with to kill processes, this bug is not the right place to comment. Compiz problems causing your user interface to lockup are relatively common place and NOT the same problem causing a COMPLETE HARD LOCK, which result in a completely unresponsive computer which is what this bug is about.
As a follow up to my experimenting, I can reliably reproduce this bug within a timeframe of about 24hours. I left my system without XBMC running, had an uptime of 5+ days. The same night I used (and left running) XBMC, hard lock. This is the vanilla XBMC package from the Precise repo, installed via the software center. Again, just to reitterate to other commentators, this bug is for those experiencing a COMPLETE HARD LOCK, resulting in a system which is not responsive to ANY input, loses network connectivity, frozen video output, and often the audio which is output at the time of lock is looping. So those who are able to interact with their system, to switch terminals, kill processes, ssh in remotely, should look at other bugs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
