No, radeonhd does not need ati/radeon. But the default setup (which will use radeon) needs the ati wrapper package to be installed. That's probably why -test2 fails.
-test3 shows that radeon works fine. But if this is with radeonhd installed, I would consider it a bug that radeonhd is not picked instead. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Summary changed: - radeonhd without xorg.conf + [HD3870] radeonhd is not preferred to ati/radeon ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- [HD3870] radeonhd is not preferred to ati/radeon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/414678 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
