  3) What is expected to happen is when one:
  + installs nvidia-current, restarts, and login
  + uses xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
  
  the touchpad works.
  
  4) What happens instead is:
  + with nivida-current the primary button does not work at all,
  + with xserver-xorg-video-nouveau the primary button stops working after a 
period of inactivity or until Firefox is open (especially with flash content).
  
  Neither is resolved using an external mouse. The cursor may be moved
  around with the touchpad or the external mouse, and the secondary button
  works as well.
  
  Hence, this touchpad problem is correlated to a bug in X. THe problem in
  nouveau was also present in Precise.
