I'm seeing this bug too with the nouveau driver: [ 745.858] (**) NOUVEAU(0): Display dimensions: (330, 210) mm [ 745.858] (**) NOUVEAU(0): DPI set to (129, 127) ... [ 745.892] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Setting screen physical size to 444 x 277
I noticed this after switching from the proprietary nvidia driver, and this is a *huge* regression for me. X should *not* try to fix bugs in some programs by lying to all of them. Right now I'm using "xrandr --fbmm" from my .xinitrc, but this is just an ugly hack -- I'll probably get back to nvidia next time I have to plug my laptop to a projector.
