I read all the issues written over here. Well the problem happens to me as well. This is happening from ubuntu 11.04 while using ubuntu 3d in respect of 32 bit or 64 bit. The main problem is the the Xorg freezes. Mouse can be moved but no response. The freeze is on the screen. But what ever is running in the background still keep on running, such as music .
I can go to console, and kill the Xorg process, which will restart the xorg and can work till it freezes again. The common problem that can be noticed here is the graphic card. My system has an onboard ati radeon X2300 graphic card, which some of the people over here have. Well ubuntu is running good on my acer netbook. Its really hard to use ubuntu when it keep on freezing as all the data get lost once it freezes.
