I also notice watching video with vdpau consumes abnormally high cpu usage. For the same video, in Natty the cpu usage using mplayer2 with vdpau (Nvidia295.20) is somewhere between 5 to 15%, in Precise it is around 50% even though vdpau is enabled (I know it is enabled aside from terminal output because it works in gnome shell, see below)
But I am not sure if this is just a Nvidia driver bug because cpu usage drops drastically when I switched to gnome-shell (even though still a few percentage over Natty with Nvidia295.20) I will file a separate bug if necessary. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982710 Title: [regression] Nvidia 295.40 driver is extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/982710/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
