You have been subscribed to a public bug: this came in simultaneously with an intel xorg issue. major artifact and display errors were happening upon initial boot. did apt-get update/upgrade and rebooted and it seemed to resolve the issue although the error reporting was triggered after the upgrade and reboot. hardware is dell latitude e5500
