In my case, touchpad hangup occurs in Precise more often than in Oneiric, Natty etc. Interestingly, it unfreezes after suspend & resume. --- ohad-basan, there has been a suspend/resume workaround for a quite long time: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireTimeline/Fixes#Suspend_to_RAM -- just add a "i8042.reset=1" kernel option into /etc/default/grub
