Kevin: Indeed, they seem to have been experiencing the same thing. Following instructions from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /adobe-flashplugin/+bug/967091/comments/9, everything works now, and I have both hardware-accelerated video playback *and* decoding as well, with correct colors:
