Hi Bryce, I tried backtracing X11 using those instructions, but couldn't get X11 on either the Precise or the Oneiric side to give me a backtrace (because it didn't actually crash).
However, I managed to backtrace some of the applications that crashed, using the "Core Files" section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace (see attached).
