** Description changed:

During the boot process my notebook (an about 2 year old Dell Vostro
1310) seems to halt for like 25-45 seconds before showing the boot
- splash. Nothing seems to happen (hdd led and cpu led hardly light up in
- between). When I disable the boot splash the only thing it shows is a
+ splash. Nothing seems to happen. The cpu and hdd led hardly light up in
+ between. When I disable the boot splash the only thing it shows is a
blinking dash. The system on the machine is a fresh Kubuntu 11.10
  installation.
