Public bug reported: Attempting to upgrade from 10.04 (in steps) to 11.04 or 11.10 my onboard intel 82945G graphics chip ( lspci |grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)) gives only resolutions for 4:3 screens. It runs with driver VESA, and the log for X reports:
i915_driver_load ERROR failed to init modeset The attempt to create an xorg.conf file with Xorg -configure didn't work either, I got some error message about wrong number of screens (sorry, I forgot to save it). For now I reverted to 10.04, where everything runs fine, so this is not really urgent for me. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/902616 Title: intel 82945G integrated graphics driver problem in 11.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/902616/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
