Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
I am able to make video work on this system running the 6.06 LTS live/desktop CD, manually selecting the screen resolution. But I am unable to get Xorg to work under later releases. In this case, I installed 8.10 using the alternate install disk installing text-only, then tried to install Gnome and Xfce (and dependencies) using apt-get. I was unable to get Xorg to start. Xorg and Gnome do work under FreeBSD (though it is a bit slow). I tried loading the vesa driver as well; that doesn't work either. I was unable to install at all from a 9.04 alternate CD, though I believe I added RAM since I tried that. I am attaching various configuration and log files. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Xorg won't start on PC with ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage IIC AGP https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
