Forgoet to mention a few things in my haste: Of course even if this possible separate bug were fixed, an option to have unity recognize 3 finger tap as middle click would still be needed, and that relates to this bug. I also should mention I do not get the "love handles" in unity when I 3 finger tap, further showing 3 finger tap is not being detected correctly.
