I don't know if this is the same problem, but I notice that, with the way I've got my panels organised (tabs for open programs at the top and launcher icons at the bottom) sometimes a tab from another desktop shows on the top panel. I attach a screenshot showing the tab for one of the gimp windows showing in desktop2 - gimp is open in desktop3. In this case the action of taking the screenshot has left out part of the tab even though all of it is visible on the screen. But you can still see that it's a gimp tab.
