I have the same problem with a Geforce 8600M GT in a Compal IFL90 ( http://notebookwiki.eu/wiki/index.php/Compal_IFL90_(Nexoc_E619) ). It is interesting that this bug seems to be triggered by chance. After upgrading to kernel 2.6.38-11 it worked about 3 or 4 times, then it stopped working, and now its again working... without changing any configuration. Kernel 2.6.32-30 works fine. I have logfiles for two boot attempts, one successful, one not. Configuration is completely the same. They are taken today, with the latest kernel for 11.04 (2.6.38-11). I attach the output of dmesg lspci -nnvvvxxx -q -d10de:* and the Xorg.0.log in the hope that this helps to find the problem. If I can provide anything else that might be helpful, please tell me.
