Just a comment on my error, with the same error message but on other version. I installed fglrx from oneiric and forgot to upgrade xserver-xorg-core from natty to oneiric. Upgrading xserver-xorg-core fixed my problem. apt-get -duy -t oneiric install xserver-xorg-core
