You have been subscribed to a public bug: My installed packages are as attached. I'm pretty sure the morning of July 26 my system was upgraded. Apparently successfully. I shutdown the system. then returned in the evening. When it rebooted all text looked rotated 180 degrees around the X axis (left-right in the plane of the screen). The text is drawn where it should be for most things. The login menu is normal, but after logging in everything is rotated. Menus were drawn so the text for the top item was really at the bottom of the menu, but you had to click where it should have been drawn. The whole menu was top to bottom reversed.
I submitted a bug report using the nvidia tool. It created a file, and I'm uploading that. It is the only thing I have that may hold a clue. They replied and gave me a series of steps to follow. What worked was for me to remove the following packages: bumblebee, ubuntu-desktop, nvidia-common, nvidia-current, nvidia-settings. I had to do this from the a console after "stop gdm". Then the display was normal. Reinstalling the same packages again succeeded and all is normal again.
