Can confirm the same here on my System LinuxMint 11 Katya. Graphic-card:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C79 [GeForce 9200M G] (rev b1) andrea@MintSchleppi ~ $ uname -a Linux MintSchleppi 2.6.38-10-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 28 15:07:17 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux andrea@MintSchleppi ~ $ andrea@MintSchleppi ~ $ dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia ii nouveau-firmware 20091212-0ubuntu1 Firmware for nVidia graphics cards ii nvidia-common 0.2.30 Find obsolete NVIDIA drivers andrea@MintSchleppi ~ $ System: Gnome-Desktop 3.0.2 with Gnome-Shell Gnome-Shell-version: 3.1.3 Kernel: 2.6.38-10-generic (x86_64) Architecture: x86_64 I notice, that my grphiccard often overheats with nouveau-driver and I have to switch off my Notebook. And if I try to install nvidia-current, my jockey shows the message: nvidia-current activated but not in use. But this nouveau-driver is not solution for the future, because of melting graphiccard. And what I also found out is, that nvidia-current-modaliases is a direct dependency of nvidia-current. But of nvidia-current-modaliases being a lower version than nvidia-current, these two packages conflickt with each other and this causes nvidia-current not to work in Ubuntu 11.04 as well as in LinuxMint 11 Katya -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772207 Title: version 173.14.30 driver is buggy for NVidia GeForce FX series To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/772207/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
