I learned that the command '~$ gksu gnome-system-monitor' will show all processes owned by root. So it shows Xorg as well. This is in contrast to gnome-system-monitor's behaviour in Lucid and is not reflected in man 1 gnome-system-monitor. man 1 gnome-system-monitor is of poor quality because it does not contain sufficient information.
