Yup, My linux crashes occasionally during startup with kernel 2.6.39-1 with this kernel BUG, while I'm unable to produce this on 3.0-rc1.
It is also worth noting that my rc.local script that turns off the power to the radeon card works on 3.0-rc1 while it was not run on earlier kernels even the times it booted.
