Hi Steve, I'm happy to read I'm not alone in this dramatic world... Yes, I think this bug affects 11.5 release of ATI Drivers. I posted this bug also to AMD bugzilla (http://ati.cchtml.com/), hoping smone helps me...
Hardware I have is similar: Ati Radeon HD 5770 on ASUS P8P67 LE . If i find some answer or solution that can help us, I mail it to you... Even if i think AMD will NOT resolve this bug before next release, maybe next month or later... Another bug affect these drivers... When i drag buttons from launcher (in ubuntu 11.04 start menu), they leave footprints on the screen... this happens only if I check the options in Catalyst Control Center that replace applications settings...
