I'm having the exact same problem on a laptop with an Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller. Random X crashes all the time with 11.04, and I cannot discern a cause. Whatever was changed in the new Update driver, it had no effect.
After logging back in (after it kicks me the login screen) I can no longer connect to any network until I reboot.
