Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Most time I let ubuntu 11.04 deactivate my laptop screen in order of inactivity, it does not comes up again after a while. (it does not go to suspend, just deactivate screen.) it happens often. a few days ago, I had to reinstall my system, after an update of the binary ati driver, installed from ubuntu sources, because I cant login anymore after update and reboot. everything I tryed to fix it failed. now I only use the standard driver, activated by default with ubuntu but that one (I use currently) does also have problems (like hanging up the system as discribed above) that problems I dont had in privious kubuntu 10.10 (with graphicdrivers origend from 10.04). thats really frustrating to get to a newer system and got more problems then before. :-/ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, regex, place, session, animation, resize, gnomecompat, snap, workarounds, compiztoolbox, grid, imgpng, vpswitch, expo, kdecompat, move, mousepoll, ezoom, staticswitcher, unitymtgrabhandles, wall, fade, scale, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz DRM.card0.HDMI.A.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1366x768 1280x720 1152x768 1024x768 800x600 848x480 720x480 640x480 edid-base64: AP///////wAGr1wgAAAAAAESAQOAGg54CpmFlVVWkigiUFQAAAABAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBlhlWKFAACDAYECQAAJAQAAAYAAAADwAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgAAAA/gBBVU8KICAgICAgICAgAAAA/gBCMTE2WFcwMiBWMCAKAPg= DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: Date: Sun May 8 20:53:47 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: natty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox-ose, 4.0.4, 2.6.38-8-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes GraphicsCard: ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200] [1002:9712] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21ca] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110427.1) MachineType: LENOVO 2545A12 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de_DE:en LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic root=UUID=14a81917-8295-4bae-9c65-f9906938ace5 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 Renderer: Unknown SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg freeze UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 01/10/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 87ET35WW (1.09 ) dmi.board.name: 2545A12 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr87ET35WW(1.09):bd01/10/2011:svnLENOVO:pn2545A12:pvrThinkPadEdge:rvnLENOVO:rn2545A12:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 2545A12 dmi.product.version: ThinkPad Edge dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs 20090808ubuntu13 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.23-1ubuntu6 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.10.2-0ubuntu2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.10.2-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.0-0ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.14.0-4ubuntu7.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110107+b795ca6e-0ubuntu7 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 freeze natty running-unity ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779592 Title: Xorg freeze _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
