** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an external HDD without major problems. However, I have an external monitor connected via HDMI to my Acer Timeline 1810T notebook (Intel graphics). On this external monitor the screen resolution is correctly set to 1920x1080. However, parts of the screen are truncated. If I make a window go to full screen, not all parts are visible. Changing the resolution does not change this behavior. Also, setting the external screen as the only video source does not change the problem (currently it is set to extend the notebook monitor). I have googled a bit and found that at least two people experience the same problem: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ubuntu-63/ubuntu-10-10-and-hdmi- screen-resolution-838728/ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/550486 Since the latter bug report does not seem to fit my problem completely, I decided to file a new one. My xorg package is: xorg: Installiert: 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 Kandidat: 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 Versionstabelle: *** 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Hope this helps to fix the problem, I also encountered it on another notebook with a different monitor (also HDMI with Intel graphics). Apparently this is an HDMI or Intel graphics card issue.
