Hi oneman, thanks for reporting this bug, and sorry it froze up.
Unfortunately in this case the apport hook was unable to collect
actionable data on the bug. Sometimes it does that... I think if
there's insufficient memory it'll fail.
We've had some other reports of gpu lockups with sandybridge; likely
this is just a dupe of one of those issues.
Anyway, please keep updating your system and filing bug reports on gpu
lockups as you run into them; often apport will be able to find the
memory it needs and submit a complete report.
