>From the log it looks like the system ran out of memory, probably same as bug 742175, and then X crashed since it didn't have memory. Like that, my guess is it's *probably* not X but some other client that's gobbling memory. But I can try to help you diagnose the problem better.
Did you just upgrade from maverick today? Or had you been running natty for some time and this just started after an update today? If the latter, please attach your /var/log/dpkg.log. Are you able to reproduce this on every boot? Or did it only fail this way this one time? ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel On Unity desktop the desktop sometimes becomes unresponsive while refreshing the update db within synaptic or update-manager. Mouse movement still works but nothing is clickable. Switching to the F1-F6 TTYs and rebooting from there works. + + Backtrace: + [ 497.784] 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x4a24b6] + [ 497.784] 1: /usr/bin/X (mieqEnqueue+0x1f4) [0x4a1774] + [ 497.784] 2: /usr/bin/X (xf86PostMotionEventM+0x97) [0x47d667] + [ 497.784] 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so (0x7f0261bec000+0x5bfb) [0x7f0261bf1bfb] + [ 497.784] 4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so (0x7f0261bec000+0x65ed) [0x7f0261bf25ed] + [ 497.784] 5: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x6c607) [0x46c607] + [ 497.784] 6: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x124a6e) [0x524a6e] + [ 497.784] 7: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x7f02670cc000+0xfc60) [0x7f02670dbc60] + [ 497.784] 8: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (ioctl+0x7) [0x7f02660c31c7] + [ 497.785] 9: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdrm.so.2 (drmIoctl+0x28) [0x7f026465d058] + [ 497.785] 10: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdrm_intel.so.1 (drm_intel_gem_bo_map_gtt+0x7c) [0x7f0263ffe4ec] + [ 497.785] 11: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0x7f0264203000+0x109d9) [0x7f02642139d9] + [ 497.785] 12: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0x7f0264203000+0x32220) [0x7f0264235220] + [ 497.785] 13: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0x7f0264203000+0x2ec88) [0x7f0264231c88] + [ 497.785] 14: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0xdbe13) [0x4dbe13] + [ 497.785] 15: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0xd4709) [0x4d4709] + [ 497.785] 16: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x2e269) [0x42e269] + [ 497.785] 17: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x21a4e) [0x421a4e] + [ 497.785] 18: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xff) [0x7f0266004eff] + [ 497.785] 19: /usr/bin/X (0x400000+0x215f9) [0x4215f9] + [ 499.646] (EE) intel(0): Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration.
