Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
I first noticed what appeared to be font corruption in Firefox. Then I noticed corruption of graphical elements other than characters. And I also noticed this corruption happening outside of Firefox (but I mostly see it in Firefox). I realized that the corruption was due to horizontal bars that would overwrite a portion of a character or other graphical element. I mostly see this while in Firefox, but also in other programs like OpenOffice.org Write (where I am writing this and seeing the bars corrupting the font). It may not show up immediately when a page first displays but may develop over time. If I select the bad text the problem is preserved. For non text items the horizontal bar is black. For font characters the horizontal bar is the background color making it look like the font is broken.
