The problem is not that your monitor is incorrectly detected or that something is wrong with the EDID. From the logs it clearly sees the proper resolutions for both your laptop display and your monitor.
The issue is that X is trying to select a resolution in common between both your laptop and your external monitor, but the highest resolution they have in common is 1024x768. If you disable your LVDS, then your external monitor should work properly. If I've misunderstood your bug report, feel free to reopen but provide more specific details so it's easier to understand what you're trying to do, perhaps with a photo of the screens if that would help explain the problem. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- [i945] Samsung SyncMaster 2243BW wrongly configured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
