xinput can be used on the command line to enable or disable tapping, via the "Synaptics Tap Action" property. There are also properties for changing the speed, sensitivity, etc. See `man synaptics` and `man xinput` for more information.
However, the bug report appears to be requesting a GUI mechanism for adjusting these parameters, so I am reassigning this bug report to gnome-control-center as a wishlist bug for requesting the gui dialog to set them. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) => gnome- control-center (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Wishlist ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415692 Title: I cannot disable touchpad tapping because there is no option on the mouse preferences dalog and gsynaptics will not run. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
