Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
On this computer, neither Desktop CD nor system installed from Alternate CD could run without safe graphics option. If not so, the boot run fine until start of X, when monitor went to off mode. One could still switch to text consoles. After some struggle, I figured out that adding these options to xorg.conf make a work around: Section "Device" ... Option "DefaultConnectorTable" "true" EndSection Section "Screen" ...Device "Configured Video Device" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1024x768" EndSubSection EndSection I'm also attaching manually the log from first run that resulted in black screen. Behaviour is the same in both freshly installed and updated systems.
