Fresh install of Jaunty 9.04 on HP laptop model G70-212EM. Needed to plug in external keyboard and mouse to complete installation. After install added the following defoptions to menu.lst as laptop's keyboard and touchpad were not functioning. i8042.nomux=1 i8042.direct=1 i8042.nopnp=1 i8042.dumbkbd=1 Following reboot laptop's keyboard OK, but when touchpad touched system crash caused with flickering. System only responsive from switching off on power button.
