Hi, I'm now running kernel 2.6.29.3 in Kubuntu Jaunty and the problem is definitely gone.
To try it, just download and install (with dpkg -i) the following packages: linux-headers-2.6.29-*_all.deb, linux-headers-2.6.29-*_i386.deb and linux-image-2.6.29-*_i386.deb from: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.3/ Don't forget to re-enable compositing by changing your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Enable" EndSection I've tried most KDE desktop effects and they perform beautifully. Video is very smooth with no flickering nor glitches.
