Ubuntu 18.10 is out, and is supported until July 2019. With support for TLS v1.3 in OpenSSL, Linux 4.18 with complete support for the Raspberry Pi 3B and 3B+, and a ton of other nice improvements over 18.04's 4.15 kernel (watch for the HWE stack in Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS!), and enhanced GNOME desktop support and a new community-contributed theme called "Yaru," it's a big step forward for Ubuntu.

Since 18.04 LTS, Ubuntu users have been presented with the opportunity to share some anonymous statistics about their hardware and their installation choices with Canonical during new system installation. Now that this long term support release has been out for 6 months, a summary overview is available, with links to the reporting software and explanations of the data collected. You can find this here:

https://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/statistics

Happy upgrading for those of you who are tracking the interrim releases, and for those of you who are sticking with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, remember that the newest software in Ubuntu 18.10 and beyond--such as LibreOffice, VLC, and more--is available to you as snap packages in the Ubuntu Software store!

Regards,
